Ian Watson is the principal of CMF Consulting.  Following a career in language consultancy in Sweden, Italy, Germany and UK, working with companies such as Sandvik, Electrolux, Gruppo Eni, Caterpillar and Standard Oil, he spent time working in sales and marketing in the snowsports industry in UK, Italy, and Austria, before moving into travel and tourism. He has advised multinational companies on foreign language training and associated communications issues and was funded by the Bavarian Ministry of Employment to design and develop a foreign language training strategy for Tourism that remains in use today.

He turned round a sizeable Gasthof and developed a four-seasons activity holiday operation in Austria prior to returning to Scotland where he ran a successful special-interest inbound tour operating company and DMC for nearly 10 years.

 Ian Watson has worked on an international vocational language standard for snowsports instructors and has a particular interest in customer service development. He has led seminars in the importance of communications in customer service for the Croatian National Tourist Board in Zagreb and Split.

 He contributed recently to the National Occupational Standards in Intercultural Working and represented employers on the Steering Group reviewing the National Occupational Language Standards. He remains active in the travel trade as the owner of CPT Multilingual Transfer Management.

He is personally accredited by British Chambers of Commerce to deliver the Export Communications Review for UKTI throughout Scotland and is a sometime mentor for graduates of Abertay University seeking to grow their businesses in international markets.
